Art Education Philosophy

Michael Smith

Art Education Philosophy:

Art is universal. It enhances cultures, enriches lives, tells stories, communicates and creates historical markers. It is beautiful, controversial, entertaining and functional. It is thought provoking and transcends boundaries. Art helps to build tolerance and respect. It allows us to see the commonalities we have with others and assists in developing an understanding for the value of the differences. Through the examination, production, critic and reflection of visual imagery and objects, it is my goal to foster an appreciation for the creative process and how art and design impacts and increases the quality of life.
